This is Ian Kiernan, founder of Clean Up Australia Day and original #trashtag’er. Appalled with the rubbish choking the oceans, he arranged a clean up for Sydney Harbour in 1989. 40,000 volunteers turned up and collected 5,000 tonnes of rubbish. Ian passed away last year, but his legacy lives on.
